Therapeutic Effects of Benecortea cream on Several Dermatoses and Comparative Study with Other Steroids by Psoriasis Plaque Test


Abstract
Benecorten is a newly synthesized derivatives of triamcinolone acetonide which has been found to have potent antiinflammatory action and good tolerence through animal experiment and by comparing therapeutic effect in several dermatoses.
The study was undertaken to evaluate the therapeutic effect of 0.04% Benecorten cream in 15 patients with atopic dermatitis, 10 patients with psoriasis, 5 patients with contact dermatitis and 7 patients with housewive¢¥s eczema, who visited the Department of Dermatology in Ewha Womans University Hospital from 16th Nov. 1979 to 15th Feb. 1980. All patients were instructed to apply 0.04% Benecorten cream topically on the lesion 2 to 3 times per day and 10 patients with psoriasis plaque test.
The result were as follows;
1) Effective theraputic response was noted in 86.7% of patients with atopic dermatitis, 90% of psoriasis, 100% of contact dermatitis and 85.7% of housewives¢¥ eczema.
2) By the psoriasis plaque test, 1% hydrocortisone cream was effective in 40/v, 0.5%, fluocortolone and fluocortolone caproate mixture in 80%, 0.04% Bep_ecorten cream in 90%.
3) During the observation period, there was neither systemic nor local side effect of 0.04% Benecorten cream.
